WHY YOU ARENT SEEING RESULTS ✨ Last night I had a consultation call with a new client. She said to me “I’m training harder than I ever have in the sessions I do but I’m not seeing results, why”? So she told me trains intensely 3 x per week. I asked her if what her activity level was outside of those sessions and she said next to none. Her job is sedentary, so her NEAT is quite low. Then I asked her to explain her diet to me, in as much detail as possible. She told me she has a coffee in the morning. I follow that with “do you use milk and sugar”, she said “yes”. She’s having 4 of these a day. A normal coffee with one sugar can be any where from 130-250 calories. Having 4 of those a day could be 800-1000 calories. So by just changing to a black coffee with stevia and a dash of almond milk she’s greatly reducing her caloric intake. From there we discussed her dinner meals. She’s really busy so she likes to eat out; her normal go to is Italian. Pasta and risotto dishes can be 800+ calories a day. If we look at just her drinks and dinner she’s averaging at 1600 calories a day, with a relatively low NEAT. It’s easy to see how one may not be seeing the best results if we factor in breakfast, lunch and snacks to her caloric equation too. Fat loss and body composition does come down to calories in verse calories out. On top of this, it is important to know that we greatly OVER ESTIMATE our energy expenditure (we think we do more than we actually do) and we greatly UNDERESTIMATE our caloric intake (we think we eat less than we do). A one hour training session is only 4 percent of your day, you can’t negate surplus of calories with that. ____________________________________________ ✨TIPS -Plan your meals. -Be conscious of your choices, make smart swaps. - Work with in a calorie budget. - Prep meals yourself or opt for meal prep companies or cleaner “Takeaway meals”. -Don’t drink your calories. - Choose healthy, whole, nutritious foods as the majority of your diet to support hormones, gut health and cognitive function. - increase your NEAT. Set timers to walk around, to for a morning or evening walk, make it buy a stand up desk, take the stair etc.
